Currently in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,
Driver's Education consists of 30 hours of
classroom instruction, 12 hours of behind the
wheel training, 6 hours of back seat observation
as another student is driving, as well as a two
hour parent's class.
According to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), students can
start classroom lessons when they are 15 years
and 9 months, but all in car lessons (behind the
wheel and / or observation) requires a learner's
permit. In Massachusetts a teenager can get a
permit as soon as they the turn 16 years old by
taking an exam the any RMV full service branch.
